We’ve all been there. You’ve created an item and shared it with the world. Curiously you’re waiting for sales to drop in. Well, that’s not the way it always works. In this post we share some light why some items don’t sell well while others do. It doesn’t always have something to do with your content. Let’s dive into it.

1 – Your items are presented poorly

Item images and presenting your items play a huge role if people even check out your items or listen to your demos. You might have a great item but people don’t even look at it because the cover design is not attractive to them. Would you click a dark and bad designed image?

Demos are another huge factor when presenting items. We saw items that have 25 loops in it but only show the excerpt of one single loop to customers. Would you buy something that only previews one loop and keeps the rest of the content hidden? Well, almost all people would say, no to that kind of offer because they want to know exactly what’s in it. So make sure to always create clean and accurate item description and present everything within your item in your audio demos as good as possible. This alone can make or break your item sales.

2. Pricing – Your price is too high

Prices are too high. People want to buy something that is of good value to them. We don’t recommend to sell something great too cheap but to keep in mind, that we often overvalue our own items because we created them ourselves. So before pricing your item keep asking yourself, if you would buy it for this price and what others offer for the same price.

3. Not providing enough value

If you create a Sample Pack with simply 3 loops chances are that not many people will buy it. Or only if it’s very high quality and outstanding. We always recommend to put in enough work and effort into products and build more extensive Sample Packs or Preset Packs. Because this not only gives you the option to price your items higher but it also helps you to provide much more value to people. Imagine you sell the Sample Pack with 30 loops instead of 3. People will be much more interested what’s in there and chances are higher that they find something in it that they like. But keep in mind, that it is important to showcase your sounds in your demos as good as possible. Otherwise your effort to create more extensive Sample Packs will be in vain.

These are the main three reasons we found but actually there is a forth one which could increase chances of more sales.

Not sharing the word

Sometimes great items don’t find their buyers because they are not shared and linked too. Always make sure to link back to your item and share your links on social media and others platforms. This not only helps your items too boost visibility in short term but it also creates a long term path back to your items. The more paths you build, the higher chances get to sell more long term.
